Howdy!
My name is Kevin Rushing and I am a part of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2016. I am a construction science major at Texas A&M University and I am also minoring in business. I have worked as a Student Business Development Intern at JBKnowledge, Inc. for 3 months and have enjoyed learning as much as I have so far.
Before this semester, and before I started working here, I had no idea how much technology played a role in such a narrow window of construction. Working here has broadened my knowledge of the estimating and bidding process side of construction immensely. I have been pleasantly surprised with how much this job is preparing me for my future and how much I am enjoying it. I was in an eager search for a job at the beginning of the semester and was very blessed to find such a great opportunity to be working with great people who can help me grow as I enter the real world of work.
At first, I was a little nervous to work outside of my comfort zone, but I have become much more comfortable with it as time goes on. Now I can take what I know and build upon it and get better. It is a great experience getting to learn about technology and business skills every day as I work. This internship is continuously helping me build skills that I will use for the rest of my life.
When I am not communicating with commercial general contractors, I am always caught up in some other meeting or some lively activity going on in the office. Working here is as fun as it is helpful and the other employees who work here are also enjoying what they do. It is a very welcoming environment and it was very easy to adapt.
I have been working side by side with Chad Broome, who is the Business Development Manager for the Eastern U.S. Region here at JBKnowledge, Inc. He guides me through my daily activities and has taught me many new things about our product, SmartBidNet, and how to identify potential clients. He has been very instrumental in helping me get as far as I have.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to intern with such a great company and with great people. I can’t wait to see the skills and relationships I develop as time goes on, here at JBKnowledge, Inc.
Thanks, and Gig’em!
